	                       AcidView For X

		        Frequently Asked Questions
	               The Idiot Guide to AcidViewX

Q: How can I obtain the latest version of AcidViewX?

A: The best way is to look for the latest Acid Acquisition.
You can also ftp to coro24.rescomp.arizona.edu /pub/avX/

---

Q: How do I install AcidViewX?

A: It would be handy to read 1-INSTALL. If 1-INSTALL does not exist,
get a complete version of avX-????.tgz (where the ???? is are the
   major and minor version numbers)

---

Q: I type 'make' and it says "No targets specified and no makefile found"

A: Don't run 'make' to install. Run 'inst-avX'

---

Q: I ran avX, and it said "file not found"

A: avX is an ELF binary, you need ELF support to run it.
Please ftp to sunsite.unc.edu /docs/HOWTO and read ELF-HOWTO

---

Q: How can I get the source code?

A: You can't.

---

Q: I don't have X11, what can I do?

A: Nothing. I'm afraid that AcidViewX requires X11 or a good emulation of
   X11.

---

Q: I've installed it, but it says it can't find a *.so.6 file.

A: You need the XToolkit libraries, or you need more up-to-date versions
   of the libraries.

---

Q: It says it can't open a font file...

A: This is the most common problem. Try exiting X and running avX again.
Also make sure that the fonts were installed into one of your font
   directories.

---

Q: Are you going to make a shell port?

A: One is in the works now. avS ;)

---

Q: I get an error: "Cannot open display:<displayname>" what do I do?

A: You need to be running X11. If you are running X11, then there
is a problem with the display. Check the variable DISPLAY, to
   ensure it is correct.

---

Q: What's wrong with the colors?!

A: I am now using a local color palette, so I can use more colors.
Therefore you must move your mouse into the window for correct colors.
I plan to make this a toggle switch, in the future.

---

Q: I hit the up and down arrow keys, but the ansi doesn't scroll.

A: You need to direct your keyhits to the window. Depending on the window
manager you are using, it might involve clicking on the titlebar, or
moving your mouse into the window, or both.

---

Q: I found a bug, what do I do?

A: Report it to me. I have only 1 system running X11 and therefore can't
betatest very well. Fill out 1-BUGREPORT and email it to me. I'd
really appreciate it, because many times, I never even experience the
bug that you may be running into...therefore I can't fix it. ;)

---

Q: I want to become a beta tester, how do I do that?

A: You must be asked.

---

Q: How long have you been working on avX?

A: I started the project on the afternoon of 07/26/95
